PDF Reader for Mac

We are thrilled to announce our latest update to PDF Reader for Mac. With a brand-new workspace interface, built-in text-editing, and added OCR functionality, the PDF reader trusted by millions reimagines the PDF experience on your Mac – allowing you to have the most seamless workflow across all your devices.

Kdan’s PDF Reader has reached more than 100 million downloads across iOS, Mac, Android, and Windows devices worldwide since its release more than a decade ago. This new update adds tons of functionality to our already robust PDF Reader – making it even more useful, reliable, and faster to use. We completely rethought the PDF viewing and editing process to make it easier to view, edit, convert, capture text, and compress PDFs.

Here are some of the highlights and ways you can make the most of this update – you’ll enjoy this one:

Redesigned Workspace – a Powerful yet Simple UI

All your essentials, in one place – We rearranged your favorite tools into eight main sections, and put it right on top so you can easily access them. The sections – Annotation, Edit, Page Edit, Forms, Convert, OCR, Security, and Accessibility – now provide you with relevant tools faster and more intuitively. Say, “hello” to efficiency.

Properties at a glance – The new property pane is placed on the right side when using the editing tools. This allows you to quickly access, view, and change properties of elements on the page without even leaving the document.

Search Scanned PDFs Using OCR

Cmd+F anything – Don’t we all just hate it when PDFs are not searchable. Now, with our new Optical Character Recognition tool (OCR), you can search text on any PDF – even the ones you scanned in or took a picture of.

Looking for a needle in a haystack – When you have thousands of printed documents – be it for research or teaching – you can simply scan all documents into a PDF and use the search functionality (or hit Cmd+F) to find the exact words you’re looking for – and to become a real research wizard of course.

Export as a TXT File for Further Editing – The use of OCR also allows you to export a document as a TXT file with the click of the button if you prefer to edit the content in that file format. Then you could convert back and share the document with whomever you’d like as a PDF file.

The OCR converter helps you extract text from scanned documents. You can save the OCR result as a text file or a searchable & editable PDF

PDF Text Editing – Easier Than Ever Before

New Reading Engine – Our new reading engine allows for faster and more accurate text editing, improving the overall performance of PDF editing. This now enables us to support text editing right in the PDF, without ever having to convert the file to Microsoft Word or other format first.

Modifying your PDFs fast – We get it… sometimes you want to add more zeros to your sales quote immediately. So for you, we added even more functionality to our “Edit Text” button. Now you can edit PDFs by inserting text, deleting content, changing font size, and even replacing font colors.

Converting PDFs like a Pro

No connection, no problem – We added a built-in converter, so you can convert PDFs to and from multiple formats locally on your Mac, without an internet connection. Our built-in and cloud converters now support multiple file formats including Microsoft Office files, Image files (.png .jpeg .tiff .tga .bmp) and text documents in .txt and .rtf.

Add any Document to Your PDF

Drag. Drop. Done – No more converting and reconverting documents you want to add to a single PDF file. Simply drag and drop any supported files from your Mac in PDF Reader’s new thumbnail view and merge all to create a PDF.

In page thumbnail view, you can drag another file from Mac Finder to the PDF Reader window.
Then you can easily append a file to the current PDF.
