This month, Animation Desk is launching its Mad Hatter: Hat Our Logo! contest. This is the chance for you to design the most original and crazy headwear for the Animation Desk logo. From March 20 until April 3 we invite you to be The Mad Hatter. The winners will win The Mad Hatter Award with prizes and have their hat design featured as App Store and Google Play logo or on the Facebook page of Animation Desk. So get ready to go mad!
As a part of the quest to unleash the great animator in you, Animation Desk’s blog posts have taken you on a journey looking at the very essence of animation. In the series of tutorials from last year’s #AD4EVER Back to Basics, we have learnt that movement and timing are the essence of good animation. iAniMagic2016: My Ani-Character has brought the focus back to the protagonists of the animation to help you improve your character animation. This time with the Mad Hatter: Hat Our Logo! Facebook contest, we are going to dig even deeper into the visuals of the characters and invite you to think about how to make your characters even more distinctive.
While a lot of brain juice has been used to plan what the character is going to do, let’s not forget about the actual visual appearance of your character. Props and clothing can help emphasise character traits and their background. Just think about Woody from Toys Story: he needs his cowboy hat to complete his wild-wild west look; Mickey Mouse needs his wizard Sorcerer’s hat to celebrate the magic in Disneyland and the Red Queen from Alice in the Wonderland must have her mini crown sitting on her red puffy hair to show her highness. Accessories can be the more literal expression of your character’s persona.

Grand winner: The Mad Hatter Award including a hat (worth 100USD), Adonit Snap (worth 34.99USD), the winning piece as the featured logo of Animation Desk on App Store & Google Play for a month and one year access to Creativity 365.

SUBMISSION DETAILS
- The Animation Desk logo file is available now on Facebook for you to download
- Use the logo as a background for you to draw your very own hat design using any software/ app. But make sure it is a hat! Other accessories will not be accepted, as we are seeking for the Mad Hatter after all…
- Save the image as PNG file with the size of 2048×2048
- Post your image on the ‘Comment’ section on the Animation Desk Facebook post.
After the submission deadline, you can join and be the judge on Facebook by voting for your favourite design from April 4th! The top 4 hats with the most reactions will be the winners. We will contact the winners through Facebook on Monday, April 10 and we will ask for the original file of the winning designs. So watch out for it!
