How to Design Art Activities For Kids

Creating art projects for children can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be! With a bit of planning, you can make art activities that are fun, educational, and safe – no matter if you’re a teacher, parent, or artist. Here are some tips to get you started on designing awesome art projects for kids.

  • Get some ideas. Consider what topics you want to cover, such as animals, social care, or cultural arts, and study the subjects. A deeper understanding of the subject might elicit more creativity.
  • Prepare early on. Consider how much time you have to prepare, but keeping things simple is always a good idea. If you are a school teacher, try to design activities kids can do at home too.
  • Keep supplies available. Inviting the kids to showcase their work can be rewarding and encourage them to express their ideas with art.

Environmentally Friendly Art Day Ideas

The environment is becoming a bigger priority these days, and art is a great way to help spread the word! More and more artists are using their work to talk about the environment and show their support. Many are using environmentally friendly methods to turn waste into art or create pieces that meld into nature naturally.

Cardboard Bird Decoration

Use art to learn more about endangered birds by creating a cardboard bird decoration. You need cardboard, scissors, and crayons or acrylic paints.

First, research different endangered birds and choose one to base your design on.

And make a simple mood board on NoteLedge, and select the color scheme you will use.

Next, use NoteLedge to sketch out the bird shape for the cardboard.

Finally, cut the build-out and decorate it with colorful patterns and symbols.

Candle Lantern for Summer Gardens

To make a simple yet beautiful candle lantern for summer gardens, you will need a glass jar, a kraft paper bag or tissue paper, and Mod Podge.

Start by cutting the paper bag open and applying it to the surface of the jar. Next, draft the heart shapes with pencils that you will cut out later. Then cut the hearts out.

Put Mod Podge on the kraft paper and paste it onto the jar slowly.

Once you have finished, you have a beautiful candle lantern you can light with faux flickering candles. It gives a feeling of warmth as the flame and warm light transmit through the hearts and the kraft paper cover.

Besides using the used kraft bags, you can also decorate the jar with colored tissue paper. Watch this YouTube tutorial video before you start DIY.

Carton Bird Feeder

To make a carton bird feeder, you will need milk cartons, tempera or acrylic paint, scissors, a hole punch, and twine.

Start by cutting a hole into each side of the carton.

Then, paint the milk cartons any colors you like. After that, hole-punch the top of the carton and thread twine through it, making sure to tie a knot.

Once you have done that, hang the bird feeder outside and fill it with seeds.
